We had a day full of touring and traveling to our next destination – County Mayo on the west coast. We arrived at the Carlton Atlantic Hotel just before 6 pm.
In the morning we had another Irish breakfast at the Beech Hill. Bill Clinton has stayed there 3 times. We saw the pictures on the wall. Beech Hill was also the location for a Marine Corps station during WWII. We walked in the gardens and took some pictures of the grounds.
We went into the city of Londonderry and walked the wall city of Londonderry before going to the 12:30 pm mass at St. Eugene’s Cathedral.
Taking off we drove through the beautiful country in the north and back into the Republic of Ireland and it’s Euro currency.
We saw many farms, sheep, and cows grazing in the fields.
Arriving at Westport in Co Mayo we checked into the hotel and then to the Tower Pub for dinner. Guinness was on the menu along with food items!
At night we went downtown Westport to Matt Maloys on Bridge St. for live Irish music. A big crowd for drinking and live music.. The band playing was “The Wild Geese.” They were very good.
Well, it’s getting late and we have some things to do tomorrow and heading down to County Clare. We made contact with Anne Downes and will visit with the relatives on Tuesday.
Hope everyone has a good Memorial Day!

Beautiful scenery. Everything is so green and lush. Now I know why “green” is Ireland’s color.
Lovely! Looks like you had an action-packed day!
Everything looks beautiful. I agree with Stephanie, you’ve certainly been getting around.
